COMPOSHURE is a testament to resilience and strength in the face of adversity. As a survivor of hardships including being an ex-felon, homeless, and jobless, he has transformed his life into a journey of success., as an entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and mentor, he strives to inspire millions by sharing his story of overcoming challenges. His mission is to empower others to rise above their circumstances and achieve their dreams.

The Beginning of  "AMILLIONMUGZ"

The United States has the largest prison population in the world.  Mass Incarceration has placed over 2.3 million men, women and children within its penal system.  This is the story of ONEOF THEM.....

The story about the life of the artist Composhure isn't unique in the fact that there are millions of young men whose stories are not to far off.

Upon graduating high school in 1983 like most young men straight out high school, he joined the military as a way of escaping a small town. After basic training and completing his AIT (Advanced Individual Training in communications for the US Army, the artist would relocate to Battle Creek Mi.  There he would slowly make a name for himself as a creator of music/beats where his first real nickname was "EASY".  A play off his government name.  It worked.  Because it seemed "easy" and simple at what he did in creating music.

He would meet a lot of people with aspirations of being in the music business.  Did he have ideas about being a star himself?  Yes.  But all of that seemed to change once he had his first taste of being in love.  Music became an inactive dream and more like a hobby, it wasn't something that he truly pursued. it was just something he enjoyed doing on the side.

Fast forward a few years and 3 kids later.  Music aspirations were starting again. Locally he had a nice reputation for creating good music and the dream of being in the music business was back in the mix.  And why not?  When you believe that you have a gift that deserves to be shared with the world, nothing felt more satisfying when you have the motivation that inspires you to seek the dream.  But sometimes dreams become nightmares.

1992 would change everything... including dreams.  Before 1992 there was nothing that you could do or say that would derail the confidence in someone as gifted and mentally strong as the artist was.  His focus to become great was full steam ahead and he could see it on the horizon.  But all that would change without a single warning.  Its hard to believe that you don't know yourself until something happens that shows you who you are.  For the artist?  1992 would be that moment in time where everything he thought of himself was not accurate.  He discovered that he was living in a fantasy world.  Everything that he cherished, loved and cared for was all a lie. Because the reality of the real world would smack him in the face and change his whole life, forever.

What could derail a dreamer. What could drain someone so full of life and determination to be great, to all of a sudden fall into a state of self-sorrow, self-loathing, self criticism, and emotional disconnect?  What can make someone with everything they wanted, lose everything?

What could make someone put themselves into a negative, embarrassing, detrimental and ultimately a no win scenario that would change not only his life but the lives of so many people forever?  Betrayal.

Although this moment in time would be the worst that he had ever experienced before. The moments after is what created the downfall of a dream.  A moment when you realize that you are who you said you were... "Easy".  Just plain simple, not difficult to please, a pushover.  The moment of being just a sap, a whimp, a weak man with no self-esteem, self-awareness or self-worth.  Because if those traits hadn't existed at the time, he would not have self-inflicted all of the hardships that he would soon endure.  More importantly.  He would not have allowed a moment of heartache and pain to change his life course of direction and put himself in the position to be in a court of law in front of a prosecutor, jury, and a judge, accused.

Out of respect for others who were subjected to the nonsense that he created because of his selfish behavior.  No discussion regarding any details of the scenario will be included in this.   It must be understood that No One else put him in the position that he was facing.  He and he alone made the decisions that would put him in a detrimental situation.  And although the circumstances led to a lapse in judgement... No one else is to blame.  It was his own behavior that got him there.  So this isn't about any cause, affect, or the reason why things happened during a bad moment in 1992.  This introduction into how this new him came to be, is 100% about the corruption within the American Judicial System process.  Although it was his own self-inflicted behavior that led to being part of the process. It is what followed that process in which this is being spoken.  How corrupt prosecutors, lawyers, and judges are locking up men, women and children of color along with those experiencing poverty, at in alarming rate in the United States of America.  And how he became a part of the MASS INCARCERATION statistic.

For the record in this case.  The crime in question was proven to have never taken place.  Although the circumstances surrounding the events are bad... the crime was not true.  Yet the Prosecuting Attorney (PA) in the case pursued actions to what can only be equated to being for their own personal gain, satisfaction, and reputation.  Intentionally fabricating and presenting to the court a false narrative.  Manipulating their witness into initially lying to the court about events that never happened.  However.  The same witness who was being used by the PA, ultimately found their own moral credibility to be more important than the gravity of the lies created by the PA.  Eventually (for which I am forever grateful and thankful), stood fast on their own principle, followed their own conscience, or maybe it was to just honor their own family legacy... at the end of it all... they confessed "THE TRUTH",  that none of those things the PA presented to the court were true.  That it was all a fabrication designed to facilitate a verdict that would ultimately and unlawful lead to another statistic added to the Mass Incarceration problem in America.

20171013_203038_001_edited_edited_edited

Be that as it may.  Although the truth regarding the case was revealed, the PA allowed their pride to interfere with his duty to dismiss the case accordingly.  Instead.  They asked the artist to take a plea deal for a 2 year high misdemeanor charge "just to satisfy the courts time", even though they were trying to give him a life sentence before the confession of the truth.  Instead of gracefully adhering to the facts to dismiss the charges. They not only disrespected "THE TRUTH".  They used their power of manipulation to persuade the jury while openly violating the artist constitutional rights in the process. And while the judge recognized the violation himself, he said that the artist "court appointed attorney" should have address it at that moment.  However as a judge, and being the Head of the court, should have done their own job properly to address the constitutional rights that were violated by the PA and not blame the court appointed attorney lack of competence.  When it was all over and done, the artist was convicted of a crime in which he DID NOT commit, and was sentenced to serve 2 -10 years in prison.

Because of this UNJUST incarceration, inmate 228147 was not a model prisoner.  Receiving dozens of disciplinary infractions (tickets), placed in the Hole (solitary confinement) several times for negative conduct towards prison staff etc.  After all, he wasn't supposed to be there in the first place.  During this incarceration he was denied parole over and over for simply refusing to admit to a crime that he did not commit.  Some would say, why not just say yes to be released after 2 years?   While that may seem like a no brainer to most.  For himself It was about the principle of the Truth that he was NOT GUILTY.  Needless to say, the artist did 10 years straight for standing on principle.

The Child Support Hustle:  2002 after 10 years of hardship it was time to go home with a fresh chance at life.  But the System had another trick up its sleeve.  On the very day of being released from prison and before he could even walk out a "free" man. Inmate 228147 was handed a piece of paper letting me know that he had a warrant for his arrest for failing to pay child support during his 10 years of incarceration.  And because he had not paid any child support during that 10 year incarceration he owed $121,000 in back arrears.  Yes. One Hundred Twenty One Thousand dollars.  And with that. The next level of this journey had begun.

Regardless the fact that he was even charged the child support while locked up.  Because of his inability to put a significant dent in the $121,000 in back child support, "The powers that be" continued to arrest and place him in jail several times since his release in 2002.  Ultimately the artist was forced to take a plea for 2 erroneous felonies for that back child support debt, or go back to prison for an additional 5 year term.  The irony is that he "plead guilty" to the charges of accumulating $121,000 worth of child support WHILE in prison for 10 years. However.  Unlike the first time where he refused to take even a misdemeanor charge because he ws "NOT GUILTY" of the crime in 1992, this time his hands were tied. This was 100% a no win scenario.  Because although they knew he was In prison during the accumulation of child support, the system said he still owed the money anyway.  So it was either agree to pay the money or go back to prison for 5 years.  That was 2012.

Today.  The artist is not "physically" incarcerated because of that plea under duress.  A plea taken in order to avoid another unjust incarceration. But with that he must pay and has continued to pay to this day 2026, "Hundreds" of dollars a month in child support.  Even though the youngest child of that support order is a mother herself.  The System has enabled the mother of his adult children to receive "that free money every month".  Even the taking of the artist yearly tax returns etc.,  But that's another story for another day about the Friend Of the Court system.

MASS INCARCERATION is a real thing in the United States of America.  So many men, women and children are forced to be a part of a system that is designed to fail you.  That this systematic problem can destroy the lives of individuals and their families, forever.  Everyone can't speak or be heard.  Everyone doesn't share the same path in life.  Composhure has had some major trials and tribulations, most of them self inflicted, but yet he makes no excuses.  Your supposed to learn and grow, teach and show others how to do the same.

"The Truth Will Set You Free".  Those are words to live by.  Who better to understand the validaty of such a statement, than one who lives and endure the reality and signifacance of such a precious statement.

The journey to get to this point began over 30+ years ago.  If he could go back in time and change the outcome and not have to endure how it effects his life today would he?  No.  Because it will still start off with being "Not Guilty" of a crime that he did not commit.  Yes.  He is embarrassed by the circumstances surrounding him being incarcerated 1992.  But he is not ashamed of something that he did not do.  One thing that he's learned about himself.  He's strong, resilient, and forgiving.  For throughout all the nonsense, the politics, the corruptness within the penal system.  The powers that be "have not" broken his spirit, have not diminished his faith in the overall goodness of people.  More importantly.  He has remained constant in who he is.

com-po-sure  (kem-po-ZHure) :  ...the state or feeling of being calm and in control of oneself.

The reason behind spelling with an H ?  The H is for being Humbled by all the different things that life has thrown his way, without him losing his way.  His name of Composhure describes his character and how he lives his life today.  After his own self-inflicted hardship, he has found the inner peace to not sweat the things that deserve to have sweat come with it.  Part of that peace of mind is directly associated to music.

Music is a part of his DNA, and the fabric of what makes him.  For all his life music has been his getaway, his  passion.  Even while unjustly incarcerated, the artist let music be his relief from all the turmoil of prison life.  Even producing music and shows while incarcerated for those with musical aspirations.  And while he has created music for others in the past.  This journey and his mission today, is to be in the forefront, and to be a voice for those who cannot be heard.

AMILLIONMUGZ was created to help bring awareness.  While Composhure does not consider himself to be your conventional 3x felon. (1 for the unjust incarceration, 2 for the child support arrears accumulated while incarcerated).  He is still a convicted felon just the same.  He is a part of the official statistics of those that are or have been incarcerated.  It is the meaning behind him creating AMILLIONMUGZ The millions of mugshots within the system.  Every race, gender, and name from A to Z.   Composhure is one of those millions whom found themselves on that side of society and all the stigma that comes along with it.  And while he has been able to strive and flourish in spite of the challenges and difficulties for being a 3x convicted felon.  There are others who can not say the same.  Therefore he feels an obligation to be their voice.  To lead by the example of second chances.

Prisons have purpose they are not meant to be resorts.  They're meant to be a place of discipline and some individuals deserve to be there, its a world that you wouldn't wish it upon your worst enemy.   There should also be a place for rehabilitation and earned second chances for those that truly warrant a second chance.   During Composhure's incarceration, there was the unfortunate opportunity to have seen different men from all walks of life and circumstances.  Every religion and every race of men.  Sons, brothers, uncles, fathers.  He lived with men that will never see freedom again because of their bad decisions.  He watched some men given the chance go home, and yet watched those same men return.  He also witness the death of men before they've had their own chance to go home.

However.  Be that as it may.  Its easy to get caught up in the perils of prison and lose yoursef in the chaos and discord that is prison life.  Again, its not a resort.  But for what Composhure was able to see first hand. Changes are needed.  And the only way that can even began is if those who are able to speak... speak.  And that is what this artist will continue to do.  He is living his second chance. After being incarcerated for 10 straight years (120 months / 3650 days) enduring the hardship that is prison.  By the grace of GOD... He had survived.  He has maintained his sanity.  He has kept his...
